Barb Lennox

Barbara Lennox, daughter of the late Keith and Eileen Waples, always had a love of horses. In her childhood days she could always be found on the back of a horse, usually a retired Standardbred, either riding for pleasure or showing in competitions.

Immediately after graduating from the University of Guelph with an Honours BA in English, she put her love of words and horse racing to work by starting The Standardbred magazine, which she published for 17 years.

Over the course of her life, she owned several Standardbreds, was instrumental in starting Royal Blue Sales and Halton Bloodstock, was a harness racing freelance writer, web content manager, newsletter editor, book seller specializing in horse books and even wrote and co-produced a 13-week series on CTV called This Is Harness Racing.

The suggestion of forming the Bill Galvin Racing Alliance to honour Bill and promote harness racing came from Barb. She was instrumental in the planning stages of the organization but unfortunately, she passed away in June of 2022 before her idea came to fruition.
